We believe knowing where we’re going is more relevant than knowing where we are. We're guided by a strong “why”, a clear “how”, and a unique set of values. And we know it’ll take us into a spectacular future.
Our Vision
We believe that work should be stress-free, rewarding, and empowering—and that it can be. We’re here to guard our users against dehumanization, surveillance, and invasive monitoring. And to help everyone spend their time on the work that matters.
Our Mission
We elevate productivity for solo users, small teams, agencies, and enterprises alike.
Toggl Track makes time tracking surprisingly easy and easily rewarding. Our users won’t spend their time inputting time, because our powerful tools will do this work for them. We aim to amaze our customers with insights so valuable we’ll feel like intelligent partners—more than just a collection of features.
We’re not here to conform to trends. We’re here to set them, and if needed, break them. Toggl Track is the time tracker your team wants to use. It’s here to help build the future of work that we all deserve.
Our Values
These seven values influence the way we act, both as individuals and as a team, and what we strive for. They also influence the way we work — where we value Results and Accountability First at Toggl (RAFT). Learn more about how we RAFT.
01. Trust
Our product and our company are built on trust, our key value and the red thread in everything we do.
We know trust is not a switch you can turn on; it needs to be nourished and cultivated.
We trust in others acting with their best intentions, inside and outside of our company.
We treat others as we want to be treated.
We trust each other to be competent, and we don’t micromanage.
We speak freely, because we trust that we will be heard and accepted for who we are.
We believe that our individual efforts and teamwork are contributing to an exceptional product we all can be proud of.
We make sure our clients can trust us and their data being safe with us, always.
Operating principle
Treat team members like old friends. Friends respect and accept each other as they are. Friends don't go behind, but rather got each others' backs. Friends are not afraid to tell hard truths to each other, but will still happily toast Negronis together 🥃
02. Transparent Communication
Transparency creates accountability. While being fully-remote has its benefits, it also comes with challenges, which we’re tackling by being open and transparent.
We communicate candidly, with clarity and transparency.
We don’t make assumptions; instead, we ask a lot of questions.
We always give context and share our knowledge selflessly and transparently.
We actively listen to others' opinions and strive to understand them.
We speak up, even if the topic is inconvenient or goes against the grain.
We talk to each other like humans—we come to work with positive energy; we joke, laugh, send GIFs and have fun.
We share all relevant information, from company-wide decisions to individual projects, to connect every team member to the bigger picture.
Operating principle
Share early and often. To keep people informed and able to help, we have to resist the urge to keep things to ourselves until they are final. Openly sharing progress builds trust and prevents micromanagement. Share that update, release that staging version, and ask for feedback even before you think you are ready for it.
03. Ownership
Toggl’s culture thrives through ownership because standing up for uncommon ideas, tough decisions, and even questioning the status quo is what makes us better.
We know we make mistakes—we’re human—but we own them and learn from them.
We suggest alternative solutions when we think it could lead to improvement.
We are proactive and don’t wait to be told what to do.
We speak up and suggest better solutions.
We don’t blame; we take responsibility for our actions and decisions.
We make sure we always understand the full scope of our work and tasks.
We believe in our mission and take care of more than just our area of responsibility.
We don’t abandon the ship when things get tough. We overcome our challenges.
Operating principle
Debate, decide, and get it done. Everyone is expected to contribute, collaborate, and debate rigorously to reach the best possible decision. Once a decision is made, everyone is expected to rally behind it and get things done as agreed.
04. Sustained Speed
Moving fast is crucial for staying ahead of the competition. Agile principles guide all our decision-making, not just in the engineering department.
We make good decisions fast, not perfect decisions late.
We launch fast, learn, and iterate so we can constantly improve and achieve our goals.
We break our work into deliverable pieces instead of creating mammoth projects.
We know that in order to sustain high speed we cannot lower our quality, even temporarily.
We work smarter, not harder, to get more done with less.
We are comfortable working outside of what our job title says.
We aspire to set the pace of the market rather than react to it.
Operating principle
Divide & Conquer to Succeed or Fail Fast It is impossible to complete extensive work in one step. Define small steps with clear goals and timelines, plan to iterate fast, and detect any failures as early as possible. Trying to be perfect or waiting for things to be perfectly laid out can be counterproductive—you can turn good solutions into great ones later. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes; it is better to fail quickly than fail slowly.
05. Respect
Being a part of Toggl means being embraced for who you are and supported in what you need to do to excel on the job.
We treat colleagues, users, and ourselves with kindness, understanding, and empathy.
We never speak poorly of one another, not even behind closed doors.
We critique ideas, processes, and actions—not people.
We embrace our differences as one of our greatest assets.
We’re committed to diversity, equity, and, inclusion.
We support a healthy work-life balance so Togglers can enjoy their lives outside of work.
We are considerate of other people’s time, work, and feelings.
Operating principle
Fix processes and don't blame people. When things go wrong, keep your natural tendency to look for someone to blame in check. Instead, find the root cause, fix the system that produced the mistake, and move on.
06. Innovativeness
Our quest is to deliver the best products possible to support our clients in working smarter and living happier.
We stay curious. Professional growth and learning opportunities are paramount.
We experiment and iterate to work smarter, not harder.
We solve real problems to make our users’ lives better.
We aspire to stand out, from our people to our culture to our product.
We encourage new ideas, and we don’t punish mistakes.
We stay flexible to stay one step ahead of user needs.
Operating principle
Take the time to learn. As much as we love getting things done, we optimise for long-term efficiency. This requires to stop, reflect, and learn from the things you've done. If you're doing things the same way every time, you're doing it wrong.
07. Freedom
We know that the best teamwork and results are attained by endorsing autonomy and individualism.
We do our best work when we get to decide how we work, what our schedule looks like and which path we will take to reach our goals.
We strive for autonomous thinking and growing in our own ways.
We put results over hours worked.
We don’t need surveillance. We are responsible and competent human beings.
We seek the truth instead of being right and genuinely consider others' ideas.
We welcome different ways of working, communicating, and thinking.
Operating principle
Be a culture add instead of a culture fit. Just like our products, our company culture is dynamic, not static. Each team member contributes their own authentic traits and perspectives to broaden our horizons as opposed to blending in. Share your fresh ideas and freely experiment with different ways of achieving great results.
Trust is pivotal not only to our culture but also for our product. If you’d like to learn more,
